Swimming pools remain all the rage in the home improvement market. They offer  the perfect mix of relaxation and good old-fashioned fun. Summer isn't the same  without a pool where you can cool off. Like any popular home improvement  project, companies have spent money developing different designs and options to  meet the preferences and budget...

SWIMMING POOL REPAIR, BY MIKE FOURNIER, TULSA

Swimming pool repair is a general term that can refer to dealing with cracks in the pool walls, tears in the lining, inoperable or poor filter and pump systems. Most of these problems require hiring a professional. Some of them are also large, expensive repairs. Understanding what you're getting yourself into will enable you to make an informed decision. Sometimes it's not about repairing your swimming pool but replacing an inferior or outdated component of your pool.

SWIMMING POOL MAINTENANCE, BY MIKE FOURNIER, TULSA

p>The easy part about swimming pool maintenance is the common knowledge that it needs to be done. Roof inspections, steam cleaning carpets, landscaping maintenance, evaluating air conditioners in the spring and furnaces in the fall...well, let's face it, too many of us neglect important components of home maintenance. But swimming pool owners know they have to maintain their pools or face the consequences in short order.

SAUNA'S, BY MIKE FOURNIER, TULSA

Everyone loves to work up a good sweat. Whether in the gym, in a bath, or in a spa, steady warmth is good for you because you get to sweat out all the toxins in your body. Sweating is very healthy. One of the best ways to generate a relaxing sweat is in a sauna, except you usually have to leave the home to be in one unless you install a unit in your house. But who can afford the price tag of such a large renovation? Now there is an alternative to conventional saunas which makes them cheaper, more convenient, and easier to maintain. Portable saunas offer all the same health benefits of traditional products, but instead of paying thousands for the initial cost, installation, and maintenance, you're only paying a few hundred dollars for a lifetime of enjoyment.

JACUZZI, BY MIKE FOURNIER, TULSA

Between work and family, all of us live busy lives. So after a long day, most  of us just want to come home and relax. But then there's dinner, the kid's  homework, baths and bedtime, and by the time you have a moment to yourself  you're too exhausted to enjoy it. The last person on...

CUTTING CONCRETE

It makes sense that because concrete is one of the most durable building materials, it is also one of the most difficult to remove. Diamond-coated saw blades need to be used to provide cleaner and safer concrete cutting. The point to note about diamond-coated blades is not that they are expensive (and they are), but they can help you understand just how dangerous concrete cutting can be. Many of us remember from school that the only thing that can cut a diamond is another diamond. Concrete cutting through walls often involves cutting through steel rebar as well. Sparks will fly. This is not your cabinet resurfacing home improvement project.

BRICK

Brick siding is one of the most tried and true siding methods available to homeowners. You can't beat it on looks or longevity; it's an excellent insulator; and it adds structural integrity and toughness to any home. Finally, for those who want a brick home on a budget, there are a number of new "thin brick" veneers available on the market that mimic real brick but come without the high installation costs of true brick construction.

DRY STACK STONE

Take a long drive through the countryside on a fall day. Beneath the colorful, swirling leaves, you will see solid stone buildings and farm walls that date back to more than one hundred years ago. Most of these were built by hand, using a simple, but sturdy, method of construction called dry stack.
